Zvi Bentwich, M.D is a physician, clinical immunologist, and world-renowned expert on AIDS research, with vast clinical, educational and biomedical research experience.  He was the first physician to deal with AIDS in Israel already in 1982, and founded the first and largest AIDS center in the country. Professor Bentwich is Professor (Emeritus) of Medicine of the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School and currently, Professor of Microbiology Immunology and Genetics, and Head of the Center for Emerging Tropical Diseases & AIDS at Ben Gurion University, with longstanding and present continuing activity in Africa in Ethiopia. He has authored 280 peer reviewed scientific publications.

 

From 2002-2009, Dr. Bentwich was the Chief Scientist of Rosetta Genomics, Inc. (NASDAQ ROSG), and, since 2012 he has been the Scientific Director of the Masada branch of the Dead Sea Arava Science Center. Under his leadership the Center has tripled its budget and manpower and the Desert Mor and Skin Microbiome projects have become leading R&D enterprises with very promising scientific and commercial outlooks.
